Two young men in Nyanshegu, a suburb of Tamale are in the grips of the Northern Regional Police Command for allegedly gang raping a fifteen year old JHS 3 pupil of Our Lady of Fatima Junior High School.
The accused persons have been identified as Tahidu Abdul Rahman and Salifu Hamza.
An informant who revealed this to ghfactsonline.com on condition of annonimity revealed that the incident occurred on Friday, 21st February, 2020.
According to the informant, Tahidu Abdul Rahman successfully convinced the victim to go with him to his house when she was eating during break time of the school around 10:00am on Friday, 21st February, 2020.
“Upon her arrival to the residence of Abdul Rahman, some arguments ensued between them and Abdul Rahman called his friend, Salifu Hamza to come to his house.
And when the second accused person arrived they forcefully had sex with the victim who even complained she was in her menses but they failed to listen to the plea of the girl”, the informant narrated.
ghfactsonline.com understands the case which is before the Tamale District Court has been adjourned to 10th March, 2020.
The suspects who are said to be between the ages of 20 to 26 years are currently in police custody pending further investigations.
They are also reports that some influential politicians in the northern region have been contacted by parents of the suspects to ensure the case is withdrawn from court for an out of court settlement.
The case has also brought serious disaffection between the families of the suspects and the victim.
Meanwhile, efforts by ghfactsonline.com to speak to the Ghana Police Service have not been successful.
